Daniel Andreiev is ten years old. He is from Odessa. The boy, his mother, and his older sister live in Phuket. They left Ukraine because of the war.
On May 2, Danya swam in the pool, dived, and drowned. The boy had not breathing for 7 minutes, but fortunately, his sister noticed him. Danya was pulled out of the water, resuscitated, taken to the hospital, and put on a ventilator.
On May 7, Daniel was flown to Bangkok for medical treatment and admitted to Samitivej Hospital. Despite the doctors' poor prognosis and the initial diagnosis of brain death, Daniel is showing signs of improvement. Although he is not yet breathing on his own, he is able to move, squeeze toys, and bend his legs and fingers. These movements are not just reflexes, but reactions to touch and pain. His blood pressure, heart rate, and temperature are normal, and he requires minimal drug support. To reduce the risk of infection, Daniel underwent a tracheostomy and now breathes through a tube in his throat.
The hospital is training Daniel's parents to care for him at home. Before discharge, they need to settle the hospital account ($18,600) and pay for Daniel's transfer home ($3,000). Any contributions, whether in the form of reposts or donations, will go towards Daniel's rehabilitation and would be greatly appreciated.
